On October 22nd - 24th, 2017, University of Finance and Management in Warsaw, Vistula University, Warsaw University of Life Science - SGGW hosted the 5th Edition of the Global Economy & Governance - Challenges in a Turbulent Era International Conference organized by National University of Political Studies and Public Administration, Romania, Romanian Academy Institute for Economic Forecasting, Romania, National Taiwan University, Taiwan, Ming Chuan University, Taiwan, Ocean University of China, China. The purpose of the conference is to establish a forum to access the latest theoretical and empirical knowledge in economic and governing science.

This year the conference gather a number of almost 190 participants from Azerbaijan, China, Congo, Croatia, Czech Republic, Germany, Ghana, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Lithuania, Macedonia, Nigeria, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, Spain, Taiwan, Tanzania, The Netherland, Turkey and USA covering topics from Economic Growth and Development; Urban, Rural and Regional Economics; Applied Business and Economics; Economic Modelling and Forecasting; Environment and Social Responsibility; governance in Democratic and Responsible Society; Building Human Capital. All these topics were discussed during the two days of the Conference (including poster session).

The first conference day was devoted to the panel discussion on the current Conference’s subtitle: “Contemporary Economics for Sustainable Development and Prosperity”. It was reserved only for invited persons (conference keynote speakers, special guests and organizers). More than 30 academics took part in this valuable panel.

During GEG 2017 we had the honor to benefit of the distinguish key-note speakers Professor Geert Hofstede (Maastricht University), Professor Steven Rosefielde (University of North Carolina), Professor Wojciech Charemza (Vistula University), Professor Chien-Fu Jeff Lin (National Taiwan University, Professor Zenon Turskis (Gediminas Technical University), Professor Salvador de Roig (University of Valencia), Professor Chen-Min Hsu (CTBC Financial Management College) and Professor Radu Lupu (Bucharest University of Economic Studies), Professor Dean Sinković (Juraj Dobrila University of Pula).

The fifth edition of the international scientific conference entitled: Global Economy and Governance - Challenges in a Turbulent Era (GEG 2017), “Contemporary Economics for Sustainable Development and Prosperity” will take place on 22-24 October, 2017. The local organizer of the conference is the Faculty of Management and Finance at the University of Finance and Management in Warsaw, Faculty of Business and International Relations at Vistula University and Faculty of Economic Sciences at Warsaw University of Life Sciences – SGGW.

The conference is also an event that celebrates the 10-th anniversary of Contemporary Economic – scientific quarterly journal.

Aim

The purpose of the conference is to establish a forum for the access to the latest theoretical and empirical knowledge on both contemporary economics and management (including administering and governance).

The conference is intended to gather researchers, scientists, and students from all over the world, offering them an opportunity to exchange experiences, new ideas, and the results of research on various aspects of economics and management (incl. administering and governance), and discuss the real problems as well as solutions they encounter. It also serves to facilitate communication between the researchers and practitioners working in various areas of science but having a common goal of improving economics, management (incl. administering and governance), trade, and finances. This year's subheading of the conference places particular emphasis on sustainable development and prosperity.

Programme

The first conference day will be devoted to the panel discussion (Round Table) on the current Conference’s subtitle: “Contemporary Economics for Sustainable Development and Prosperity”. It is reserved only for invited persons (conference keynote speakers, special guests and organizers).

Publication opportunities

All the presented papers will be published in a peer-reviewed scientific monograph (with ISBN) to be issued after the conference.

Papers submission

Organizers are expecting only for extended abstracts (up to 500 words).
The abstract submission deadline is October 15, 2017.

The abstract should be concise and comprehensible to readers, and reference citations must be avoided. The abstract should contain the justification of the undertaken topic, the aim of the study, methodology used in the study, the main results, conclusions/recommendations, and limitations), 3-5 keywords, JEL codes (JEL codes should be provided as a combination of one letter and two numbers (e.g., Q04). If you have any question regarding JEL codes, please visit the following Web site that contains JEL Classification: http://www.aeaweb.org/jel/guide/jel.php). If you can’t attend the conference you can send us the poster for posters sessions. All submitted manuscripts are subject to the double-blind peer review.
